Video Captures Tennessee School Employee Dragging 7-Year-Old Boy Off Bus By His Feet
A Tennessee school district employee is being investigated for dragging a 7-year-old off a school bus.
A video of the incident was posted to Facebook, with the clip showing a man pulling a child from his seat and carrying them off the bus upside down by his ankle.
According to a report from ABC 8 News, the video was recorded the fifth grader Zamarian Pointer, and the man seen dragging the 7-year-old is an employee at Robert E. Church Elementary. Neither the man nor the child's identity has been reported.
In a separate report from Fox 13 Memphis, the 7-year-old's mother said that she didn't know what happened to her son until another parent showed her a video of the incident.
"He had a concussion and his back was bruised," Kimberly Hardin, the child's mother, said.
Following the incident, the Shelby County School District issued the following statement:
"An employee from Robert R. Church Elementary is being investigated based on reports of forcibly removing a student from a bus while breaking up a fight last week. We take any report involving student safety very seriously, and immediately reported this situation to the appropriate authorities. Per standard District procedure, this employee has been removed from the school while the matter is being investigated."
The school district also claimed that the employee was breaking up a fight just before the camera started recording. However, Hardin said that her son wasn't a part of any fight and that the school district failed to tell her about the incident until days later.
The employee is currently not on the job.
