A$AP Rocky Shares Tim Burton-Created Album Artwork for ‘Don’t Be Dumb’
The legendary ‘Beetlejuice’ and ‘Batman’ filmmaker contributed his distinctive visual style to the album.

A$AP Rocky has announced that iconic film director Tim Burton had a hand in the creation of his upcoming fourth album. The Harlem-born rapper posted on social media that he is ending an 8-year drought with the release of his upcoming project, Don’t Be Dumb. Burton created the album artwork, and Rocky references “a movie” related to the album release.
“SORRY 4 THE WAIT DON’T BE DUMB FINALLY HERE! THANKS TIM BURTON FOR HELPING ME MAKE THIS MOVIE! COMING SOON,” he wrote.
The artwork features caricatures in Burton’s style, along with a “no” circle-and-strike-thru with “Don’t Be Dumb” in the center. Burton’s name can be seen on the cover of the album.
Rocky has referenced Burton before. “I sat and I played the album for Tim Burton,” he told Billboard last year. “And he was f**king with it heavy… He was rocking his head and was like, ‘Wow! I didn’t know you made that kind of music!'”
Burton is one of Hollywood’s most successful and creatively distinct directors and producers, having either directed or produced films like Batman, Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice and more.
While Rocky hasn’t dropped a lot of new music, he has been acting. This past August, he co-starred with Denzel Washington in Spike Lee’s Highest 2 Lowest. Back in May, he explained what it was like to share the screen with the cinematic icon.
“Nah, I was born for this,” he explained when asked if he was nervous. “I’m not gonna waste nobody’s time. This is what I do — this is the same approach you would take to making an album or to directing or designing anything: You’ve got to give it your all. People judge you by integrity; that’s how you can measure someone’s principles and morals. If somebody don’t got integrity, and they’re just doing it for the check or the look or the next opportunity, it never works out for them. I promise you. That’s where the phrase ‘Cheaters never win’ comes from. When you cheat yourself in life, you never win in the end.”
