Putting the rumors to rest Prince announces that he will take the stage for the first time ever in Austin, Texas at SXSW 2013. The announcement follows his latest project 3rd Eye Girl and a historic performance on a recent episode of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. He will reportedly play on a specially designed stage in downtown Austin at La Zona Rosa on Saturday, March 16th. Scheduled to play with a 22-piece band, Prince will definitely play to a capacity crowd and anyone else who can squeeze themselves within earshot of the venue. While SXSW has grown over the past few years to include bigger and bigger acts, the presence of Prince has officially raised the stakes through the stratosphere. This year’s festival schedule will be very difficult to top in 2014. Prince’s performance may be a once in a lifetime thing for the Austin fest. Those who know better than to miss this will be there. To tell the truth, everyone at SXSW will probably be there. If you miss him in Austin, Prince is also scheduled to play a few dates at Montreux later this summer.
