The Notorious B.I.G Meets Nirvana on a Hard-Knocking Mash-Up

For years now, an image of The Notorious B.I.G. and Nirvana's Kurt Cobain has been circulating on the internets. And though it seems plausible that the two late legends might have shared some time and space at some point during their overlapping reigns over respective realms of music, most people will tell you that no such meeting has ever occurred in their mortal forms.

Now more than 20 years removed from their deaths, a new mash-up has pitted Biggie's "Big Poppa" bars over the live version of Nirvana's "Lake of Fire," taken from their iconic MTV Unplugged set. And truth be told, it makes for a damn-good fit. Hard-knock drums underscore the bluesy riff to bring this into hard-nosed funk territory a la Albert King or more recent Black Keys experiments. Hear The Notorious B.I.G. and Nirvana as one on "Big Poppa Fire" below, jump back to hear yesterday's discovery of two Mariah Carey and Bruno Mars mashes and hold tight for the imminent arrival of another cross-genre concoction in the days and weeks ahead.
