Deem Spencer's Pretty Face tape was released in late February to warm critical response. Deem created the 14-track project in the midst of the end of a four-year relationship. For most of his latest video, "Shorty Pt. 3," Deem stands alone in different settings: in the stairwell of an apartment building, an empty backyard party's bounce house, at a piano, and at a basketball court. The visuals are directed by Stuart McIntyre, and co-produced by Somesuch and Care of the Land.
Deem's last EP, 2017's we think we alone, focused around the grief of losing his grandfather. According to Deem, this project focuses on "the fight to stay together. As soon as I finished the last song, it was over."
Pretty Face can be streamed on all major platforms. Check out videos for "but" and Deem's performance of "is" for Red Bull's Seamless Sessions on YouTube. Deem's first EP, Sunflower, is available for streaming on Soundcloud.
