Michael Smith is Leaving ESPN's 'SportCenter'

SC6 has officially come to an end

A month afterJemele Hillleft Sportscenter to write for The Undefeated, her co-anchor on the show, Michael Smith, has announced that he would also be leaving the show.

Michael Smith's last show will be on Friday at 6 PM.

In a statement sent to USA Today, ESPN executive vice president Norby Williamson said:

"Michael is a talented commentator and we greatly appreciate and value his contributions and creativity. We are in the process of discussing with him potential next ESPN assignments."

In recent weeks Smith has talked openly about how ESPN handled himselfa d Hill. (Jemele Hill was suspended last year after calling Donald Trump a white supremacist on Twitter.)

Smith said:

It was very frustrating. Behind the scenes and on cameraThey got what they wanted, which was Michael and Jemele being muted. And that frustrated the shit out of us.

While Hill and Smith worked together for many years, there version of SportsCenter, also known as SC6, latest only about a year. Their version of SportsCenter premiered February 2017.
