13 New Hip-Hop & R&B Albums You Should Listen To Right Now (Week Of Dec. 4)

This week, there's new hip-hop albums from Rico Nasty, Yung Baby Tate, Steve Lacy, Blxst, Aminé, and more.

There is an overwhelming amount of music that drops on New Music Fridays. Unless you have hours of free time, it’s almost impossible to wade through all the new hip-hop albums out there to get to the good stuff.

That’s where Okayplayer comes in. On Friday morning, we are out here listening to as much new music as humanly possible. This week, there aren't a bunch of high profile releases. But that doesn't mean there isn't good music out there. Rico Nastydropped her debut, after years of anticipation and moshpit secessions. 

There are also new releases from Roc Marciano, Steve Lacy, Yung Baby Tate, TisaKorean, Your Old Droog, and more. Check out the full slate of new hip-hop albums below.

Rico Nasty — Nightmare Vacation

After years of being one of the most exciting rappers on the mixtape circuit, Rico Nasty has released her official debut album Nightmare Vacation. Rico is only 23 but It's already been a long journey. In a New York Times interview, she talked about how her expectations for her debut has changed over the years.

“When I first signed, I got a little depressed about that type of stuff... Why isn’t it happening? What about me? What am I doing wrong? I have to be No. 1!’... But if you look at the history of this, it’s all about who lasts.”

Rico also dropped the video for "STFU."

Steve Lacy — The Lo-Fis

New Steve Lacy music? Well, not exactly. The musician just dropped a bunch of rare and unreleased demos and instrumentals. All the songs were recorded when Lacy was in high school, so this is pretty tight.

Che Noir — After 12

Che Noir does not stop working. Just months after dropping As God Intendedwith Apollo Brown, the Buffalo rapper returns with a seven-track EP called After 12. This one features Ransom, 38 Spesh, Jynx, and more.

Roc Marciano — Mt. Marci

Roc Marciano has been one of the most productive and savviest rappers of the last five months. After only selling his latest album, Mt. Marci, on his website, Roc has officially put the album on DSPs. There's really no excuse to not listen to one of the best MCs in the game work.

Your Old Droog — Dump YOD: Krutoy Edition

Your Old Droog continues to get busy. He just dropped Dump YOD, which features appearances from Black Thought, Mach-Hommy, Tha God Fahim, Phonte, and more.

Drakeo the Ruler — We Know the Truth

After an excruciating years-long legal battle, LA rapper Drakeo The Ruler is home. He was suddenly released from prison after striking a deal with the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office. Drakeo is already back to work; he just released an excellent new tape called We Know the Truth. In an interview with journalist Jeff Weiss — who has been Draeko's biggest advocate — the rapper talked about the best part of being out of prison.

"Being in the studio again, making music, clowning around, just being me."

DJ Scheme — FAMILY

DJ Scheme has been trying to establish himself as the DJ Drama of this era, working with artists like Ski Mask and the late Juice WRLD. Now he has his official debut album. FAMILY is a star-studded album featuring the likes of Ty Dolla Sign, Cordae, Joey Bada$$, Lil Keed, Ski Mask the Slump God, and more.

Yung Baby Tate — After the Rain

Yung Baby Tate follows up her Girls project from last year with After the Rain. The EP features Flo Milli and 6LACK.

TisaKoreanWasteland.

Lead by the single "Mop," rap wildman TisaKorean has released Wasteland. Speaking about the album in a press release, Tisa said:

"I’m excited about Wasteland. The music on this project lets you hear where I'm at and where I'm going. I can’t wait to bring people along for the ride. I came up with the title 'Wasteland.' because I feel that’s what the project is: a 'landfill' of different vibes. I think it’s something on there for everyone."

YFN Lucci — Wish Me Well 3

YFN Lucci rounds out his Wish Me Welltrilogy. Speaking about the album with AmericanSongwriter, Lucci said:

“This is one of my most anticipated albums,” Lucci says. “There are some real bangers on here, man. Fans are going to appreciate it. I came out in 2014 and there wasn’t a lot of people harmonizing and accepting I was going to sing on this motherfucker. I show people how to get it. I motivate the streets.”

Blxst — No Love Lost (Deluxe)

Beatmaker Blxst just added some songs to his No Love Lost album. The deluxe version of No Love Lost features Ty Dolla $ign, Dom Kennedy, and Bino Rideaux.

Aminé — Limbo (Deluxe)

Ayzon — Invisible Man

Producer Ayzon has released his debut EP, Invisible Man. The album is the perfect soundtrack to unwind to. On his Instagram, Ayzon wrote:
