Your Old Droog Announces 'The Nicest' EP, Shares New Cut "We Don't Know You"

Your Old Droog has been incredibly generous with his fans in 2015. The Coney Island-bred MC, who's capable of packing more brilliant one-liners into a verse than should be legally permitted, just announced an upcoming EP of new material, dubbed The Nicest. The new record will consist of six tracks, the first of which has already been made available for our collective early enjoyment. "We Don't Know You" is a slow-coasting big of smoothness built on piano, piano and more piano. Droog's long-time collaborator DJ Skizz produced the track, on which we hear the MC calling out his peers, wondering if hip-hop really has progressed from its early-aughts pop posing. "Shit hits hard, whether you're in Brooklyn or in Decauter / Your music's just a indicator / Of a shitty ass time in rap / Escaped the ringtone era and now they're peddling apps," he bemoans. The Nicest will drop July 17th.

Your Old Droog was recently featured in a micro-interview film, "A Droogy Droog World," which was produced by the French media collective Gasface. In it, Droog reveals that the mystery surrounding his career's earlier days was a keenly-orchestrated plan, even hinting that he would have liked to let the identity questions run on longer. He also shares memories of moving to New York City as a young kid and hearing his father play rock music before hip-hop eventually took over his headspace. Watch the video interview below, listen to "We Don't Know You," and pre-order The Nicest on iTunes today. We'd say "Welcome back, Droog" but the truth is he never left, and we're mighty fine with that.
