"We Ready" Rapper Archie Eversole Dead At 37

Atlanta rapper Archie Eversole, known for his 2002 hit "We Ready," died after allegedly being shot by his brother in Decatur, Georgia.

Atlanta rapper Arthur "Archie" Eversole, best known for his 2002 hit  "We Ready," died earlier this month. The rapper was shot on March 25th in Decatur, Georgia before being taken to a nearby hospital. Eversole died from his injuries just nine days later, on April 3rd.

According to a WSB-TV update, Eversole's brother Alexander Kraus was arrested for murder and is currently in Dekalb County Jail. First charged with aggravated assault following the shooting, Kraus' charges were pushed to murder after Eversole died. Dekalb County officers found Eversole suffering from a gunshot wound at a local Chevron gas station on the 4400 block of Snapfinger Woods Drive.

Archie was just 17 when he released "We Ready," which features Bubba Sparxxx, and which was on Archie's album Ride Wit Me Dirty South Style. The song became an anthem at sports games across the country.

In 2018, soccer team Atlanta United selected Eversole to pen their theme song "United We Conquer." A year later, the NFL released a commercial which featured "We Ready."

In a statement, Atlanta United said they were "heartbroken" about Eversole's death.

"A staple in the Atlanta hip-hop scene, Archie adopted Atlanta United before our first season and continued to be one of our club’s most fervent supporters," the club said. "In addition to his decorated musical career, his voice will long live in our supporters’ minds as ‘We Ready’ billows through the speakers for kick-off at Atlanta United matches. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends."
