Pass The Popcorn: Watch A Full Pilot For The Hannibal Buress Show That Comedy Central Turned Down
These days,Hannibal Buress and Comedy Central have a pretty good thing going. He began his breakout on the über-successful Broad City as a regular, which gave him the legs to develop his own series for the network, Why? With Hannibal Buress. And while that show enjoyed a good run this summer in its inaugural season with a grip of your favorite artists (Thundercat, Jean Grae, Lupe Fiasco) gracing the stage and Flying Lotus playing musical sidekick as the in-house DJ, there was another show from the Chicago comedian that almost made its way to the network. Until, obviously, it didn’t.
A few days ago, however, Buress gave us a taste of what could have been, dropping the full pilot episode of the show Unemployable, which was pitched to and turned down by CC, finding the funny-man trying his hand with a few odd jobs, failing miserably at most of them and eventually making an iron-strong case for why he was destined to become a comedian. Here you’ll see Buress milk goats in the boonies, tell fortunes in New Orleans and drop pearl one-liners all along the way. All of which begs the question: how did this thing never get its chance? Whatever the case may have been, Buress’ little slip-of-the-finger tweet about the network picking up a full season of the show is no longer all we have to verify its mere existence (especially now that that tweet as apparently been deleted.) So without further ado, watch the full pilot for Hannibal Buress’ Unemployable below.
