Legacy Recordings Drops Unreleased Live Miles Davis Take

Oh joyous day! Can we ever be upset when some new vintage shows up on our door step? Legacy Recordings has dropped an unreleased take of "Spanish Key" from Miles Davis' heralded 1970 Fillmore West performance. A night where Miles opened (gasp) for hot-ticket songwriter Laura Nyro (double gasp!) produced one of the most memorable performances of the jazz sage's career, giving service to the critically smashed and wholly reinvented sound of Bitches Brew. "Spanish Key" and the album at large mark Miles' transition into the modern, leaving his be-bop wizardry at the door and taking in the genius of his rock and funk-infused contemporaries (i.e Sly & The Family Stone, Jimi and the like.) The release comes ahead of a reissue for that historic San Francisco residency, including over 100 extra minutes of unreleased gems. Miles at the Fillmore: Miles Davis 1970: The Bootleg Series Vol. 3 is due out March 25th, but you an get a 10 minute taste of "Spanish Key" below.
