Three Men Convicted of Murdering XXXTentacion

Michael Boatwright, Dedrick Williams and Trayvon Newsome were all found guilty in the 2018 murder and robbery of rapper XXXTentacion.

Three men have been convicted in the 2018 murder of rapper XXXTentacion. After deliberating for more than a week, a Florida courtroom found Michael Boatwright, 27, Dedrick Williams, 26, and Trayvon Newsome, 24, guilty for first-degree murder and armed robbery in connection to X's death on Monday (March 20). The three face a possible life sentence behind bars. Another man, Robert Allen, pleaded guilty in 2022 to second-degree murder.

The controversial Florida-born rapper, legal name Jahseh Onfroy, was shot multiple times in the neck outside RIVA Motorsports in Deerfield Beach, Florida on June 18, 2018. While leaving the motorbike shop, Onfroy was approached by two armed masked men in a struggle over property from the rapper. During the 45-second struggle, Onfroy was shot before the suspects fled with a bag full of $50,000 from the "Look At Me!" artist.

Although Boatwright's lawyer argued that his client's DNA was not on Onfroy's body, lead prosecutor Pascale Achille pointed out that the three men were near the motorbike shop at the time of the rapper's death. Prosecutors presented surveillance video from the incident, along with images of the men flashing $100 bills hours after the murder.

Onfroy's fanbase has grown in the years since his death, notably 2022 when his sophomore album ? became the most-streamed hip-hop album in Spotify history. Two posthumous studio albums were released shortly after his death, including Skins and Bad Vibes Forever. In 2022, two documentary films about Onfroy were released, Look at Me and In His Own Words.
