Watch The Roots Pay Tribute To Sean Price On The Tonight Show

Much of the world is still grieving the loss of Sean Price, having passed in his sleep last week, far too young and far too cherished by the hip-hop community and Brooklyn at-large. Many have paid tribute to the fallen king, but last week, our very own took the opportunity to hold up a flame on one of late-night’s biggest stages. The Roots crew would be their name and the stage would be that of The Tonight Show’s, where ?uesto, Tariq, Kirk, Ray (subbing in for Kamal on the keys,) Tuba, Mark, James, Frankie and the Dap-Tones horns led a proud and loud tribute to the fallen BK legend in between segments, chanting the man’s name over a heavy live rendition of “Onion Head.” You can watch that short, but impactful clip in all of its glory down below, just make sure you scroll a little bit farther down the page to see a little bonus piece of Price, channeling his inner Purple One with lavender six-string in-hand, lip-syncing “Purple Rain” in an intimate home video clip released by his Duck Down family today. Sean Price’s forthcoming Songs In The Key Of Price is due this Friday, August 21st and can be preordered on iTunes ahead of its release. Help support his family by donating here.
