Technics' Legendary SL-1200 Turntable Has Been Resurrected And It's A Thing Of Beauty
Earlier this year, Technics unveiled plans to revitalize and revamp their unanimously-adored, and frankly, legendary SL-1200 series turntable. And then today, smack-dab in the middle of the CES madness, the company went spilled the damn beans on the officially resurrected line, reintroducing the historic ones and two in the new for 2016 Grand Class series.
There is, unfortunately a bit of a hitch, as there will be two versions made available this year; a limited edition, 50th anniversary model that will be made available in Q2 of this year with only, duh, 1,200 units coming of the assembly line and a standard SL-1200G that will land later this year. Hard to argue that the resurgence could hardly come at a better time, as vinyl sales and enthusiasts seem to be multiplying by the hour.
And if Technics has it their way, they may just corner the market again. Precise dates and price points have yet to make their way to the masses, but you can lay your eyes on the new design up top and head over to the Technics site to get up close and personal with this thing of beauty and the entirety of their Grand Class series hi-fi audio components.
