Stream Ta-Ku's Gorgeous New EP 'Songs To Make Up To'

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

At long last, Ta-ku has released his new EP Songs To Make Up To, the follow-up counterpoint to his excellent 2013 LP Songs To Break Up To. Featuring singles "Love Again" and "Long Time No See," the new 7 track work is a gorgeously thoughtful piece, one in which yearning lyrics and crisp handclaps co-exist beneath the same beautiful open sky. On Songs To Make Up To, Ta-ku has taken his craft as a producer to a new level--this may very well be the release that breaks him to a new, massive audience of listeners who don't yet realize how badly they need his songs.

A host of friends including Sango, JMSN, Atu, Jordan Rakei and Sunni Colón all lend their talents to the release, which (as its title might suggest) carries an overriding tone of hope amidst its gentle keyboard strokes and stuttering drums. If the Australian beatmaker broke your heart on his last release, then kindly accept his offer to help you pull it all back together on STMUT. As the opening vinyl hiss of "Hopeful" draws us in, one gets the sense that things truly can get better--that one can go back and atone for past mistakes. That may or may not actually be possible, but inside of Ta-ku's world, almost anything is. Listen below to the entire EP below and if you're in Australia right now, purchase it on iTunes (North Americans will need to wait until sunrise, Firday morning).
