St. Vincent, Sounwave & Terrace Martin Brilliantly Rework An '80s Stones Cut

St. Vincent, Sounwave & Terrace Martin Rework An '80s Stones Cut

St. Vincent's not one I get to jot words down for all too often. Her work, both as a songwriter and absolutely bad-ass guitarist, lives on all of music's borders at once, blending the experimental pop stylings of Talking Heads (even recording a full album with frontman, David Byrne) with her own spell of brilliance. And though there hasn't been much in the way of new music from Vincent since 2014 self-titled outing, today she resurfaces with TDE regulars Sounwave and Terrace Martin to deliver a brilliant rework of the 1980 Rolling Stones gem, "Emotional Rescue," off the soundtrack to the forthcoming film, A Bigger Splash. And it's available for you to hear down below along with a statement from St. Vincent on the how it all came together.

i saw an 11 AM showing of “i am love” at the sunshine cinema on houston street. i walked out of the theater in a daze, wandered into a nearby church, found the last pew, and wept for an hour. so when luca asked me to be involved in his latest film, i said yes a thousand times and then once more. luca, tilda fucking swinton, ralph, matthias, dakota– all made a beautiful film. so proud to have worked with sounwave(!!!) and terrace martin(!!!) on this stones track. they are a dream team. hope you enjoy. xx
