SBTRKT Brings Smooth R&B Cybernetics On New Track "Relics" (ft. Tev'n)

SBTRKT Drops Another New Heater w/ "The Light" feat. Denai Moore

SBTRKT isn't one to quit working on a weekend. The UK-based producer-composer already wowed us earlier this week with the hard-hitting single "Renegade," and is now back again with the futuristic R&B ballad "Relics." Featuring the vocal talents of Tev'n, a London-based singer whose velvety style has just won us over in one fell swoop, "Relics" builds slowly but surely as a kind of half-ballad, half-banger that uses both smooth rhodes keyboards and banging bass with great success. Gradually, Tev and TRKT build a futuristic classic that marches along to a chopped vocal sample that comes across like an android's tortured beating heart. Despite its title, the track only ever pushes forward; this is the ghostly cry of a machine that's losing faith in its own operating system.

SBTRKT (real name Aaron Jerome) has been honing this blend of progressive rhythm and blues for years now, and it all came to a head on the brilliant 2014 release Wonder Where We Land. But now, with "Relics," we're already eager to hear what SBTRKT's next big move will sound like. Listen to the gorgeous one-off release below.
