Run the Jewels Squawk the Jewels Square
Get ready for the birdstrike. Run the Jewels lifted their side project species specifications and rolled out Squawk the Jewels in a hilarious new collaboration sketch with The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The brief clip features Killer Mike and El-P on a Manhattan rooftop (you can tell by the water towers), gripping a few birds and actually performing "Blockbuster Night Part 1" to a beat made of bird squawks. We never knew we needed this, but damn. We needed this.
Run the Jewels performed on the rebooted Late Show along with TV on the Radio earlier this week, but this might be our preferred product of their creative Colbert collusion. Meow the Jewels, a real remix album that deploys cat sounds in all of its production, will be dropping soon. Listen to its first single, "Meowrly," but only after you've taken in #SquawkTheJewels. Then, get set for Bubblewrap the Jewels, Mambo the Jewels, Wilhelm Scream the Jewels, Malfunctioning Pinball Machine the Jewels, Widows 95 Startup the jewels...
