Prince Taps Zooey Deschanel For New Single "FALLINLOVE2NITE"

Last night Prince proved that if you're a burgeoning young talent and he happens to have guest starred on your show, you might just get a chance to record a single with him. The Purple Progenitor just released a full version of "FALLINLOVE2NITE", a song he teased on that fateful post-Super Bowl appearance on ZooeyDeschanel's hit FOX series New Girl. This one seems geared towards the New Girl crowd, with Deschanel and His Royal Purple trading off on the hook, but the tonal choices seem much too clean, bouncy and one-offish to be a whole-hearted Purple release. Nonetheless, Prince's touch is wholly embedded and alive with punchy horns and tight, crisp claps, even if this feels more like Prince's attempt to connect with the EDM generation.

The light in this tunnel comes from the fact that the song was released via Epic Records and certain sources have placed L.A. Reid (who has a bit of a love-hate thing going on with the Paisley crew) at the PLECTRUMELECTRUM listening party in NYC last month. So there's plenty to look forward to from Prince & Co, as the new LP could very well be released through the Sony Music-owned imprint this year, ending an unprecedented five-year long wait for a new Prince album.
