As It Turns Out, Prince Was The One Who Bought The 'Purple Rain' House

Perhaps some of you recall a news item from roughly this time last year, when it was announced that the house that was prominently-featured Prince's Purple Rainhad gone up for auction. Well, according to Minneapolis Public Radio's The Current, Prince was actually the one to purchase that quaint little residence located at 3420 Snelling Avenue in South Minneapolis, adding it to an impressive roster of properties accumulated in the greater Minneapolis area, including his childhood home, an industrial building (likely used for storage,) several rancher-styled homes, and yes, even a lakeside retreat.

All of these properties are owned by NPG Music Publishing, which has become managed by Bremer Trust since his untimely death, along with his entire estate until a rightful legal heir is appointed. It should be noted that this process could take years to sort out. What will become of the Purple Rain house and all of his properties has yet to be resolved. But for our money, there may not be a better site for a real life Purple Rain museum, decked to the ceiling with rarities and props from the set.
