The historic Morris Brown College will receive the donation which will be split into two scholarships.

Atlanta's New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, which has recently become connected to Kanye West due to a hefty donation is set to redirect the monetary gift.

Back in September Kanye held a pop-up Sunday Service at the church located nearby the historic Morris Brown College. The church is led by Senior Pastor Rev. Jamal Harrison Bryant. According to Complex, Bryant redirected the donation to Morris Brown College due to the rapper's support of President Donald Trump's policies. On October 5, West reconfirmed that he agreed with Trump and the Republican Party.

At one moment, he shared the following statement with the crowd:

"Abraham Lincoln was the Whig Party—that's the Republican Party that freed the slaves. I ain’t never make a decision based only on my color. That’s a form of slavery—mental slavery. I ain’t drink from the white person fountain... I ain’t playing with them. All these mind controllers, the media, all of these mind controllers. I find that wherever Christ is where I’ve got my mind at. We find that the love of Christ is where I’ve got my mind back."

Following the above, Bryant responded to West's thoughts on an episode of Roland Martin's Unfiltered podcast on October 10. He shared, "The same Donald Trump who in fact brought in all the presidents of the United Negro College Fund HBCUs and promised them he would give them funding ain't given them a dime. And still, he says he supports him." He went on to note that he doesn't "align" with Kanye's statements and that the donation would be redirected to Morris Brown College.

In a report by the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, a spokesperson for the church confirmed that the contribution made by West will go directly to Morris Brown College's scholarship fund. Bryant announced this news during the church's 9:30 a.m. service on October 13.

Harrison shared that the contribution will be split into two scholarships, one honoring the late Donda West who was a previous faculty member at Morris Brown College. The other is set to honor Vanessa Long, wife of the church's former pastor, Bishop Eddie Long.
