A Warren G-Directed G-Funk Documentary is On The Way

Warren G Resurrects Nate Dogg On New G Funk-Fortified Cut "My House"

This past weekend, Warren G made way to the multimedia melee in Austin (SXSW) to unveil his feature-length G-Funk documentary. As one of the tradition's pioneers, (some would say unsung) few are better suited to head such an undertaking. The documentary marks the LBC rapper's directorial debut and though no nationwide release has been announced just yet, The Regulator and the film's producer, Karam Gill, sat with Billboard, to detail this very funky journey into the heart of hip-hop.

Gill reveals that the project's origins date back to an impromptu meeting between the film's helmers backstage at a show. Once enough stories had been shared, Gill realized there was an undocumented history of a distinguished sub-genre before him, one rooted in distinctly west coast wildness and bravado. The doc will feature a dedicated segment to the psychedelic forefathers that laid the foundation for G-funk and its disciples. Again, no official release date was made way just yet, but that appears to be a matter of time at this point. Hold tight for more on the film's release in the weeks and months ahead.
