There is a woeful amount of media outlets dedicated to the magic that is black women, which is why a media outlet like Hollywood’s Black Renaissance is important.

Hollywood’s Black Renaissance (also better as HBR) is a brand new site dedicated to covering and celebrating pioneering black women on the small and big screen. This means covering stories about famous actresses and directors. But this also means covering powerful black women writers, agents, managers, and attorneys. Basically, if a black woman is killing it in film or television, expect to read about it in HBR.

So on any giving day, you'll see a story centered on someone like Insecure's Issa Rae next to a story about someone like Karen Horne, who is a senior NBC executive.

The site was started by K. Nicole Mills, a woman who left a career on Wall Street to embark on a career in television and film, working for networks like NBCUniversal and Showtime.

Speaking about this new venture, she says:

"For too long, the perspectives and contributions of black women have gone unheard in Hollywood. We are shining a light on the hidden figures who shape and define the images we see. At a time when the conversation about diversity in Hollywood remains prevalent, recognizing and honoring the powerful presence of black women in film and television, contributes to the push towards a more inclusive and diverse Hollywood community.”

Very cool things are happening at HBR. Check out the website here.
