Mumia Abu-Jamal has issued a response to the police killing of unarmed South Carolina man Walter Scott in an exclusive report from Democracy Now! The imprisoned journalist and former Black Panther recorded the message from his infirmary bed at SCI Mahanoy, where he was hospitalized recently after suffering diabetic shock. The message from Abu-Jamal came as his supporters reportedly held protests in 10 cities to demand he be allowed to see a diabetes specialist. Offering some serious food for thought, Abu-Jamal questions the media's respectful portrayal of police officer Michael Slager - Scott's accused killer - as compared to minorities accused in high profile crimes who are sometimes described as "punk" or "predator." The report from Abu-Jamal follows the controversial death of Scott, who was shot 5 times by Slager. His death was captured by 23 year-old barber and North Charleston resident Feidin Santana, who recorded the incident on his cell phone. Listen to the full message from Mumia Abu-Jamal below.
