Listen To Muhsinah Bring Vocal Brilliance On The Rico Love Cover "Somebody Else"

Muhsinah has returned with a cover of Rico Love's "Somebody Else," a vividly vulnerable love song that becomes, in her hands, a piece of truly gorgeous work. Unraveled to its bare threads, Love's uptempo cut is remade by Musinah as a stirring piano ballad, and is here just in time for Valentine's Day and all the lovers who have seen a good thing go very, very bad. "'Somebody Else' really spoke to me," Musinah said of the cover, "and echoed a sentiment of getting on with life after love, which I feel is a point in life that almost everyone, regardless of status and background, will have to face at least once--only once if they're lucky."

That awful work of getting on with life after love inundates Muhsinah's performance--you can hear the pain channeled in each perfect high note that she hits, and as the cut's tastefully programmed drums enter the emotive power only ever amplifies. "I hope my version of Rico Love's brilliant song really inspires people to get honest, to get open, to get some answers and to really heal on things," she explained. We last heard from Muhsinah in 2014 when she released her fantastic 'M' EP--here's hoping "Somebody Else" is a sign of more new projects soon to come.
