Mary J. Blige to Be Honored With BET Lifetime Achievement Award

Legendary singer, actress, and fashion icon Mary J. Blige is set to receive BET’s Lifetime Achievement Award this year.

Blige will receive the honor at the 19th BET Awards, which takes place this Sunday (June 23) at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

The Lifetime Achievement Award honors artists who have made a considerable contribution to music. Past recipients include Anita Baker, Charlie Wilson, and Prince.

Blige— who has eight multi-platinum albums, nine Grammy Awards, two Golden Globe nominations, and a SAG nod under her belt —received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She also made Academy Awards history as the first double nominee for Best Supporting Actress and Best Original Song in the critically-acclaimed film Mudbound.
