Lupe Fiasco Will Destroy Your Copy of 'Lasers'--With An Actual Laser Beam

Lupe Fiasco Addresses His Latest Open Letter To Our Nation's Police Force

In one one of the more literal (and possibly destructive) moves in recent hip-hop memory, Lupe Fiasco has made an offer to destroy existing physical copies of his 2011 LP Lasers. But rather than steamrolling records like one asshole did in the 80s, or lighting them on fire like a bunch of assholes did in in the 70s, Lupe has offered to use an actual laser beam to lay waste to his own material.

Lasers, you'll remember, was much-maligned when it was released, and taken by many to be a disappointing follow-up to his excellent 2007 LP The Cool. In a new Instagram post, Lupe asked fans who truly hate the record to send it back to him so he can "unmake it."

"My 3rd musically related thing I want to accomplish this year is not to make another album but to do something waaaay stupider...I want to unmake an album," he wrote in a post. Lupe continued:

The fact still remains that a lot of people really loved LASERS (Me Included) despite the popular myth that it's one of the worst rap albums ever but sometimes the myth can be stronger than the truth. So yeah....if you have a physical copy of LASERS that you absolutely hate and wish for it to be rendered non-existent then you can send it back to me and I'll have it destroyed with an actual giant laser and send it into next world in spectacular grand fashion and we can all get on with life nice and happy like it never happened. No hard feelings.

It's all supposed to go down on New Year's Day 2016, so if you've got a copy of Lasers and want to watch Fiasco go all Star Wars on it, comment on Lupe's IG or use the #TheReturnOfLasers hashtag. Lupe's people will be getting in touch. Also, if you haven't yet put an ear to his excellent new Pharaoh Height mixtape, do it now--before he threatens to mummify it.
