Toothtaker Kaytranada EP
It apparently only takes two tracks to constitute an 'EP' these days, but all the same we're sure as hell pleased to bring you news of Sunday, the new collaborative project from young beatmaker phenom Kaytranada and journeyman MC/remix genius Isaiah Toothtaker. It all starts up with "How U Value," a love song that defies convention and benefits from Kaytranada's innate knack for making an immersive beat out of simple, understated elements. Then, we're offered up "Polo Stadium," which is nothing but strange psychedelia through and through.
"Polo Stadium" has also gets an audio-visual treatment, and in its animated music video we watch as illustrator Taylor Johnson goes to work, capturing the essence of the cut quite nicely. The entire project is being released on Mass Appeal Records, and in announcing Sunday, the outlet described it as showcasing "savoir faire of the post-Dilla astronaut that is Kaytranada and the offbeat talents of Isaiah Toothtaker perfectly, and they’re able to succeed despite coming from vastly different ends of the musical spectrum."
