Kanye plans to spend $60,000 to renovate the building.

America’s newest billionaire has made a special purchase. On April 24, Chicago’s WGN-9 reported that Kanye West has finally purchased his childhood home for $225,000.

West and his mother Donda lived in the house from the 1980s to 2004. After she sold the property, the house went through foreclosures.

Years ago, Kanye and Rhymefest planned to use the home as a creative center for Kanye’s “Donda’s House” program. In 2018, however, ‘Fest accused Kanye of abandoning the project. He asked fans to boycott and protest Kanye.

Kim Kardashian-West later accused Rhymefest of attempting to over-leverage Kanye’s name. “U haven’t been right since you got kicked out of the studio in Hawaii wearing fake Yeezy’s,” she wrote. “Stop w your fake community politics & lies. Truth is you haven’t been able to sustain the foundation.”

Rhymefest addressed the accusations in an open letter to both Kim and Kanye. “At this point,” he wrote, “if you want us to dissolve the organization so you can do the work, we welcome that. As we will continue from our home on the South Side of Chicago, to do what we can to support the community we’ve worked five years to build in spite of you & Kanye’s lack of interest and support.”

It is unclear whether Kanye will resume plans of converting the home into a community center.
