Ludacris was tapped for a new campaign video that dropped on Sunday.
Joe Biden’s presidential campaign has enlisted Jermaine Dupri, Monica, Jeezy and Ludacris to record “Get Out The Vote” ads.
The ads will target Black voters in battleground states, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Additionally, they will run radio and on digital platforms pushing listeners and viewers alike to practice their voting rights. When speaking on his involvement, Dupri shares, “It is really really important to make sure people don’t sit at home,” Dupri said. “There are a lot of people I know that are still on the fence about voting, period.”
In a newly released ad that arrived on Sunday, Ludacris says, “Your vote matters. Your voice matters, it’s time to get involved and make our voices heard.” He also shares, “There’s nothing more important right now.”
Alongside the ads, Biden’s campaign is also ramping up its “Shop Talk” series. This series which is filmed inside barbershops was created to generate a discussion amongst Black men. Dupri, Terrence J, and Don Cheadle have been a part of this ongoing series as panelists.
On the campaign’s efforts to garner votes nationwide, Kamau Marshall, the Biden campaign’s director of strategic communications said:
“Our campaign is focused on meeting voters where they are with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ message to build back better. These events and new GOTV ads with various influencers reach a critical audience of Black voters that we’re hoping to turn out this election.”
The sole purpose behind these pushes is to get voters out who are undecided or didn’t plan to vote at all. Dupri also shared that Biden appears to be taking Black voters and their voices seriously. The presidential candidate and Dupri met in Atlanta after the Democratic primary debate hosted at Tyler Perry Studios.
On the meeting Dupri said, “[Biden] really wants to hear what we have to say. He came to the meeting with a pad and a pencil. He didn’t come to the meeting acting like he’s the boss, or the president.”
