Forget Yeezy season. It's J Dilla season 'round these parts. Yesterday would have marked the legendary producer's 42nd birthday and we've already begun to sound-off on the man's legacy, ten-years removed from his tragically-early passing, ten years removed from the masterpiece that was his parting gift, Donuts.
And so, as a tribute to the man with the dee-licious sonic suites, Stones Throw's own J Rocc and Karriem Riggins -- two brilliant musicians that have been down with Dilla since Day 1 -- have stepped into the mythical label's basement to put one up for the pioneer on the latest installment of their always dope Dungeon Sessions. With Riggins sitting behind the skins and Rocc manning the ones and twos, the duo recreate two gems from Dilla's catalogue, "Lightworks" and "E=MC²," as you've never heard them before. This, of course, is only the latest flag flown for the King Of Beats, as we continue to celebrate an incomparable legacy.
