Heems, Hannibal Buress & Eric Andre Riff On Racial Anxieties In A New Clip For "Sometimes"

Punjab by way of Queens MC Heems has doled out a riotous clip for his latest single "Sometimes," off his recent Eat Pray Thug LP release. The new music video features modern comedy cavaliers Hannibal Buress and Eric Andre, and is pretty much exactly what you'd expect to see come out of a brainstorm session amongst such brilliant, off-kilter brains.

The video opens with Mr. Andre enjoying a night at home with his lady, who seems to be losing interest in him with every passing minute. Heems appears as a brown-skinned infomercial salesman who offers a magic ointment that will make any brown or black-skinned user turned white, and Andre latches on to rapper's pitch with hopes of winning over his light-complexioned girl's heart anew. Hijinks ensue (we won't get the image of a whiteface Eric Andre out of our heads for quite some time) and Mr. Buress finally makes his appearance and, well, you'll have to watch it for yourself.

Both Heems and Hannibal are currently on tour, and when we last caught up with the Queens MC he was wowing us with his heartbreaking Dev Hynes collaboration "Home." "Sometimes" cuts a much more divisive nerve as it digs at the internal contradictions found both in the rapper and the MC himself, and this new clip, while light-hearted ("white-hearted?") keeps that self-examination front and center.
