French Montana On Mac Miller's Overdose: "I Would Have Made Him Stop"

French Montana opened up about Mac Miller's death in a new interview on BET's Raq Rants.

The former friend and collaborator of the late artist talked about Miller's drug problem and wanting to help. Miller died in September at the age of 26, from a combination of Fentanyl, cocaine, and alcohol.

"Honestly, I think Mac Miller was doing the same thing every other artist was doing out there," Montana told show host Raquel Harper. "If you've seen the video that me and him did, I'm like 'Yo, bro, you're overdoing it.' But that was him way before. Sometimes if people don't have people that keep them grounded, it can go left. I just feel like they let him get away with whatever he chooses to do."

Montana continued, saying, "I feel like I have people that, if I do something like that, how I was to him like a big brother, like, 'Bro, you're bugging out... He ain't have that around him. Because if I did it that night, if I was around him a couple more nights, I would have made him stop... but he didn't have nobody that was doing that."

The full episode airs Tuesday on BET.

Montana appeared in the 2016 Mac Miller documentary, Stopped Making Excuses, and can be seen attempting to talk to Miller about drinking lean. Around the 6:40 mark in the video, Montana says, "This is too much... Listen to me, I'm your brother, this right here, you're gonna miss a couple of shows."

Miller also appeared in a 2012 episode of French Montana's Coke Boys TV shows Mac Miller and the rapper in the studio for the making of their track, "Drank & Smoke."
