Video: Flying Lotus Speaks On Psychedelics, Sleep Paralysis & Also Some Music

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.Flying Lotus speaks to noisey about drugs, sleep paralysis and dubstep

Flying Lotus is not "that guy who's like, I have to be true to the underground...I have no problem making commercial music." He is that guy, however who uses music as a way of exploring and dealing with a lifelong tendency for sleep paralysis--music which takes its listeners to their own altered states consistently enough that FlyLo feels compelled to clear up misconceptions about his use of psychedelics (no more than a few times a year. The weed use, though; that's a daily operation). All this and more is covered in Noisey's interview with government-name Steve Ellison, shot on a recent trip to the U.K. Also of course, more music and stuff, from his feeling on dubstep to the reasons why he considers Cosmogramma his jazz album and the new disc Until The Quiet Comes to be his L.A. album ("more bangin'"). Hit play below to get just a little deeper into the mind of FlyLo. UTCQ drops next Tuesday Oct. 2nd. Pre-order it here.
