Amongst the hyperactive Soundcloud set of producers, Esta certainly stands tall. The Soulection acolyte has a knack for turning esoteric samples into sprawling grooves, and on his newly-dropped track “Childish People,” he does just that in top form. The cut comes as a collaboration between Esta and Masego, who himself added saxophone and “trap scats”–whatever those may be.
The important thing is the track sounds fantastic. Fading from a sun-spackled intro into something much more solid, and finally closing in a piano jaunt that’s impossible to get out of your head. Anyone interested in the sample material for the track need only look at the name: Esta and Masego are pulling primarily from two sources for this one, the first being Childish Gambino’s “Sober,” and the second being Phony Ppl’s “Why iii Love The Moon.” Producer hopefuls take note–this is how you take a great track and add your own personal flavor to it. “Childish People” knocks from front to back and is sure to be cropping up on radio shows and mixtapes all across the internet in the coming days. But for here and now, let’s just it enjoy it on its own. Stream Esta and Masego’s new one below.
