Win Tickets To 'California Love,' An Orchestral Tribute To Dr. Dre Live In Los Angeles

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Dr. Dre's music covers just about every known base in hip-hop, from the minimalist G-Funk of The Chronic to Compton's massive everything-at-once production. Dre is a musician's producer, a gangster rap virtuoso that approaches his beats like new compositions. Now, for one night only, the man's music is going to get a full orchestral treatment as The Playing For Change Foundation brings California Love to the gorgeous Wilshire Ebell Theatre in LA. This is your chance to enjoy Dr. Dre, reimagined as a contemporary classical composer--and Okayplayer has some free tickets that could be yours. All yours.

The night will feature a live 30-piece orchestra (specifically the California Love All-Star Orchestra) playing selections from Dr. Dre's catalog, along with music composed by Sly5thAve and Tarek Kandil. Included amongst the All-Star Orchestra will be Talking Heads keyboardist Bernie Worrell, drummer N’Dugu Chancler, flutist and saxophonist Justo Almario, Dr. Dre's own piano instructor Steve Lindsey, trumpeter/arranger Todd Simon, drummer Vince Wilburn, Jr and keyboardist Mark de Clive-Lowe.

It all goes down on November 21st and will also include DJ sets from Battlecat, DJ Rhettmatic and Jeremy Sole of KCRW. The entire evening will be hosted by Fuzzy Fantabulous, and two pairs of tickets are up for grabs for those who fill out the form below. Best of luck, (okay)players!
