Dev Hynes Talks Synesthesia, NYC Living And More
Dev Hynes has been pretty candid when it comes to being afflicted/effected by synesthesia, a neurological condition that correlates particular sounds with particular colors. A miraculously open conversation in a segment for Ray-Ban's The Order Of Never Hide finds Hynes waxing on everything from how the condition has effected him (for better or worse) to his Essex upbringing to why he calls NYC his home today. The video provides ample insight into the colorful mind of Hynes, how particular melodies or notes trigger those colorful dreamscapes and how its something he is immersed in without choice.
As the camera follows him through Chinatown and Downtown Manhattan's streets we find Hynes at ease and opening up in a pretty rare interview that tracks his come-up, what he was like as a child and adolescent and what his taste in literature was like these days. You can watch Dev's The Order Of Never Hide segment below, but if you're looking for an up, close and oh so personal account, we've got you covered. Hynes and Co (AKA Blood Orange) will be closing out our 15th anniversary celebrations at Central Park's SummerStage this Saturday the 16th for the low, low price of free ninety-nine. Come celebrate our 15th born day with us and rock with your boy on his home turf.
