Humans being with working eardrums the world over have something to celebrate this Monday afternoon--Dev Hynes has just shared new material. The music comes as a 45 minute upload to his Youtube account bearing the description:
I spent the last few months working on a film score, then I got fired. No hard feelings. Here’s some of the music. Listen & zone out if you want. Painting by Alice Lancaster.
Hynes went on to elaborate on the new sounds via his twitter account, where he assured fans that the new music is in fact orphaned soundtrack material, and is something that fans can now freely "zone out" to.
Musically the soundtrack is nothing short of gorgeous, filled at times with reverberating harps, calm guitar, lunar synthesizer chords and, at its close, a mountain of midi horns. Fans of his by-now-classic funk material will be left a little wanting--drums are scarce on soundtrack, if they're even used at all--but those with an interest in Brian Eno, Phillip Glass, Max Richter or Tim Hecker will find much to relish in. Listen to the new music below and join is in fervent anticipation of the third Blood Orange LP. And to see more of artist Alice Lancaster's work, click here.
