Legendary actress Debbie Reynolds, born Mary Frances Reynolds, has passed away at the age of 84 due to what is thought to be a stroke. Reynolds passed away barely twenty four hours following the death of her daughter Carrie Fisher. Reynolds was born on April 1, 1932 in El Paso, Texas. During her life Reynolds was an entertainer, singer, businesswoman, film historian, collector of film memorabilia, and humanitarian.  Reynolds played Helen Kane in the 1950 film Three Little Words. Her acting won her the Golden Globe for Most Promising Newcomer. Then, in 1952, barely twenty years-old Reynolds played the role of Kathy Selden in Singin' in the Rain, which propelled her into stardom. Throughout her long and illustrious career Reynolds acted in several films including The Affairs of Dobie Gillis (1953), Susan Slept Here (1954), Bundle of Joy (1956), The Catered Affair (1956), Tammy and the Bachelor (1957), and How the West Was Won (1963). Reynolds was also in The Unsinkable Molly Brown (1964), The Singing Nun (1966), Divorce American Style (1967), What's the Matter with Helen? (1971), Mother (1996) and others.

Carrie Fisher, Reynolds' daughter, passed away on Tuesday after suffering from cardiac arrest on a flight from London to Los Angeles this past Friday. Fisher was 60. She was best known for her iconic roles as Princess Leia Organa of Alderaan and General Leia Organa in the Star Wars film series. Though the relationship between Fisher and Reynolds was at times strained, the mother and daughter were on better terms as of late. A documentary about their relationship titled Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds is due out on HBO in March.
