Common Discusses His Oscar Moment, The Oprah Snub, Getting Js From Jordan + More On Jimmy Kimmel Live
Fresh off a monumental appearance and subsequent victory at this year's Academy Awards, Common stepped on to the stage at Jimmy Kimmel Live to chop it up with The West Coast's late-night guy. After introducing Kimmel to his little friend Oscar (who will apparently be making all of the rounds with our favorite Chicago bomber) Com -- or Lonnie Lynn, as the Academy knows him-- spoke on the weight of the performance and how much it meant to him to have won one of those miniature golden bald guys. The focus then switches to another golden moment, just before the show when Com's manager graced him with a golden Jordan 1, which was somehow not even close to his most valuable sneaker. Little known fact: Common's father Lonnie Sr. was an ex-ABA player, which helped little Lonnie acquire a spot as the Chicago Bulls' ball-boy, eventually landing him a pair of MJ's own sneakers (now worth infinite.) Sneakers and golden trophies aside, Com also took the time to clear the air about his accidental snub of Selma co-star Oprah, which took place during his elated descent upon the podium to claim his prize. Let's just say emotions got the best of him. Watch Common's candid and lighthearted sit-down on Jimmy Kimmel Live below.
