Cardi B and Meek Mill Were Under Fire For Insensitive Social Media Posts

Both rappers over-shared on social media yesterday, and this led to massive backlash from fans on Twitter.
As the world has continued going to shit, celebrities have continued showing us their true selves. On Sunday evening Cardi B was under fire for asking her fans on Twitter if she should buy a bag for $88,000 (yes, $88,000).
Should I spend 88K for this damn purse ? Omggg it’s tempting 😩😩😩

Meek Mill also entered the “celebrities being douchebags chat” when he posted on his Instagram Stories that he’d given $20 to kids selling water bottles in the streets of Atlanta. You’re also reading that correctly kids as in plural, it was apparently six to eight of them.

Meek told the kids to split the $20, and in the clip, they ask for more. They’re dismissed and he tells them to get their hands off of his car. Though the video isn’t long, it still is strange that the rapper decided to publicly share this moment. Against his better judgment, he posted the video. As the nation has experienced evictions, job losses and the outlandish 2020 election, this video was a bit difficult to watch.
Fans took to Twitter to drag Meek Mill and rightfully so, the clip was cringy. One fan expressed it was cheap of him to be driving around in a $400,000 car and to hand such a small amount to kids hustling, a valid thought.
Meek Mill is driving around Atlanta in a 400k car, Saw a few kids hustling waters and gave them 20 dollars and told them to split it. 6-8 kids splitting 20 dollars.

Meek later responded to the jokes and memes by tweeting: “They appreciated it they just hustling kids.”

Back to Cardi, after her moment of over-sharing, she was immediately roasted, mainly because folks have only received one stimulus check during the entire pandemic. We can’t help but wonder if she actually thought about backlash before she fired off that thought. One Twitter user clapped back by sharing that COVID-19 has been killing Americans, students are “drowning in debt,” and “folks can’t feed their families.”
Sis, there’s an eviction crisis, folks can’t feed their families, students are drowning in debt, and people are sick with and dying of COVID. Most of us don’t have the luxury of $88 temptations so hearing you’re trying to drop $88k on a purse feels hella wrong. pic.twitter.com/0mR7QGhtW8

After she received a series of tweets and responses pointing out that she hadn’t read the room, the rapper quickly pivoted. She then offered to match donations for charities. Cardi tweeted, “I will match what you donated and match your donation to that same charity or foundation.”
Okay let’s do this challenge! Since ya want to tell me to donate soo much …Drop receipts on what YOU have donated too.I will match it and donate to a organization you have donate as well.LETS START NOW!

She also made it clear that she’d previously donated two million dollars this year when a Twitter user tried to declare she should donate $88,000 to the needy. “I already donated 2 million dollars this year and I’m doing something very special in a another country that will be done with next year,” she wrote on Twitter. Cardi also added that she’d given out a million to fans on Cash App just two months ago.
Also I donated a million dollars to fans thru cashapp 2 months ago https://t.co/XF9sAjWIuz

One moment that stood out during her series of tweets was her honesty about helping family members during the pandemic.
Also I got 7 uncles an 3 aunts on my daddy side,9 aunts and 3 uncles on my momma side a whole bunch of cousins I had to help cause of the pandemic ….If I want to splurge I can with out yall asking for hand outs like me and my husband don’t do so.Thank you. https://t.co/9LpZEMQXNv

Eventually, she apologized for the tweet about the purse. But, she also managed to throw in a jab at Donald Trump for his handling of the pandemic. “Ok guys I apologize. There you happy ?!” she shared on Twitter. “I don’t see ya askin trump for a apology when he out here missing COVID meetings to play golf.”
