Live Stream The #BMOREYOUTHRISE Youth Town Hall Meeting Now
Today, May 9th, a the #BMOREYOUTHRISE movement will host a town hall meeting to be streamed live around the globe.
In the wake of the death of Freddie Gray and subsequent upheaval across the city, activists and community organizers have come together in hopes of channeling anger into positive change. Along with Gray, many other unarmed victims of interracial violence including Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown Stanley Jones and Rekia Boyd currently weigh heavy on the minds of the nation's urban youth, and so today's meeting will be one of weary but essential dialogue. Organized by the The National Stop the Killing Committee along with the NYC Justice League and over 30 other local Baltimore organizations, the meeting begins at 12 p.m. EST and can be live streamed in its entirety below.
The town hall was organized in large part by YoNasDa LoneWolf Hill, who said in a press release: "I've been a national community organizer for over 10 years, and whether I'm in front of or behind the stage, I've always believed the way to reach young people is through Hip-Hop. Hip-Hop is the culture of the youth. It's the expression of the youth."
Other #BMOREYOUTHRISE events today will include a mural painting for Gray in his home Baltimore neighborhood and a march (following the town hall) to a rally site where live acts and speakers will perform.
