This latest incident follows the viral video of a girl licking a carton of ice cream and placing it back in a store freezer.

A man in Louisiana has been arrested for licking a carton of ice cream in a supermarket.

In a report from the New York Times, Lenise Lloyd Martin III was arrested on Saturday after he posted a video of himself licking a carton of ice cream on Facebook. The 36-year-old man will spend at least four nights in jail awaiting his bail hearing, which was delayed because of the July 4 holiday.

Although Martin was able to show he had bought the ice cream with a receipt, he was still charged with criminal mischief for tampering with a product before he had purchased it, and with “unlawful posting of criminal activity for notoriety and publicity.” As the Times notes, the latter charge is a “rarely-used Louisiana law that makes distributing a video of oneself breaking the law punishable as an additional crime.”

“He didn’t feel like he had done anything wrong,” Lonny Cavalier, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office in Assumption Parish, said. “His explanation was, ‘All I wanted to do was be famous. And I paid for the ice cream.'”

Last week, a video of a woman licking a carton of ice cream and putting it back in a store freezer in Texas went viral and angered many on social media. The video started the controversial hashtag #icecreamchallenge, in which other people have made their own videos where they open cartons of ice cream, lick it, and place it back in a store freezer. The girl has since been identified and, according to another report from the Times, tracked down. However, the Texas Juvenile Justice Department is handling her case because she’s a minor.
