BJ The Chicago Kid Blazes Through D'Angelo's "Untitled" Live At NPR's CMJ Showcase

Watch BJ The Chicago Kid Deliver An Impressive Performance Of D'Angelo's "Untitled" Live At NPR's CMJ Showcase

BJ The Chicago Kid delivered one helluva run at D'Angelo's "Untitled (How Does It Feel)" in a recent appearance at NPR's CMJ Showcase a few weeks back. Opting to put his own sex-soaked spin on the foundational neo-soul ballad, the Chi-town crooner bucked the trend, obtaining from merely rehashing the powerful number's sentiment in a clean-cut and dry cover. Sure, he took a couple of squalls, but it was certainly no half-assed impression (read: Adam Levine & Usher on The Voice.) This kid took things into his own velvety croon and gave us yet another reason to be excited about whatever he seems to be cooking up over there. It isn't often that (as a tried & true D'leiver, still hoping we'll get that Voodoo follow-up one of these days) I can say someone actually did the joint justice, but this certainly walked that fine line between imitation and ownership and I tell ya, for the life of me, your boy did not disappoint. Scroll through to around 22:00 to watch BJ The Chicago Kid let loose on a proper cover of D'Angelo's "Untitled" with band in tow down below, just be sure to keep it looked for the latest from one of our newly cemented favorite in the r&b game.
