Haleek Maul is only 16. But his mind is old. The world-weary, abstract concoctions on his recent Oxyconteen EP gave us a glimpse of the far-reaching depths --both musically and philosophically --that the young, Brooklyn-born Barbadian is bound to descend into. Linking up with some of the most interesting, up-and-coming electronic music producers on this side of the pond (perhaps most notably Chicago's boundary-pushing Supreme Cuts duo), Haleek has put to proof that he also has a great ear for picking out just the right backdrops for his dark, mythical, and self-proclaimed "post-rap" tales of inner turmoil. On August 21, Haleek will release his first full-length, titled Chrome Lips and produced entirely by Supreme Cuts. "The Dummy," featuring Charlotte cloud rapper Deniro Farrar, is the first joint we get to hear from the project and should give you an accurate idea of what this kid is about. Check out the tracklist for Chrome Lips after the jump and catch Haleek with Supreme Cuts, The-Drum and Sich Mang at BK's Glasslands Gallery tonight.
