Cookin Soul drops a remix of Big L‘s “Put It On” channeling the aesthetic of uptown’s illustrious past. The production fits Big L’s flow as much as it does his style in a remix that takes the road less traveled straight back to the 90s. A refreshing take atop the mountain of synths anchoring the trend of all-dubstep-everything that has plagued the remix market as of late. Purists in their own right, Cookin Soul adhere to the horn stabs, hard drums and infectious melody common to every golden era classic for a truly fitting homage to The Flamboyant. Lord Finesse – who opens the track with a shout to Cookin Soul – and Buckwild should both be pretty impressed with this take on the OG version.
