The demonstration was thought of when Harkins and Rait realized no one in the music industry had come up with a plan to show support to the #TimesUp movement. (Two weeks ago, celebrities wore all-black to the Golden Globes to show their support of the movement.) They chose the white rose because it was "practical" and the color white was connected to the suffragette movement.
