Snarky Puppy is the latest guest on NPR's Tiny Desk Concert series. For the Grammy-winning ensemble's debut, they packed nine bodies behind Bob Boilen's corner of the office, performing "Xavi" and "Tarova" off their last two albums.
In between songs, bandleader and bassist, Michael League, insisted the cameras turn on the too-easy-to-forget Tiny Desk crowd, directing one half of the audience to clap to a 3/4 count, while the other half holds a clap to a more traditional 4/4, effectively creating a polyrhythm for the band to play around (a Tiny Desk first, by this writer's count.)
