The violinist's latest release serves as a precursor to her debut EP.

In the first verse of V.C.R's latest single "Butter," she sings: "I've been praying, meditating on the finer things / Like my momma in a Tesla on the freeway / Yeah, life gave me lemons but I chose to make lemon cake."

It's a line that's delivered beautifully and coolly alongside soulful production, the violinist and vocalist embodying a smoothness that fits the name of the song.

Written and produced by V.C.R, the artist described "Butter" as a "cosmic soul" track that's a "dreamy, creamy ode to resiliency and hope," "highlighting and visually expressing the freeness of being a woman, being black and being exactly who you want to be, unapologetically."

The cover art for the single is an ode to Black renaissance paintings "and the continued beauty and resilience of women turning nothing into something."

V.C.R also plans to release two different visuals for the single, which serves as a precursor to her debut EP that's in the works. Prior to "Butter," she released "Lilli Lotus."

Classically trained in violin and choir since she was five, V.C.R has collaborated with the likes of Georgia Anne Muldrow, Kelsey Lu, and Sudan Archives. V.C.R can be found on Instagram.
