The Australian singer-songwriter's 10-track album details her journey through love, adulthood and more.

SAYGRACE has officially unveiled her debut EP The Defining Moments of SAYGRACE: Girlhood, Fuckboys and Situationships.

At just 22 years old, SAYGRACE whose government name is Grace Sewell is serving up an assortment of tracks near and dear to her heart with her newest release. In the years leading up to this release, Grace led a successful career with the aforementioned name as her stage name. Now, as she steps into a new year she is ready to present her truest version of herself.

The 10-track EP follows the Australian singer-songwriter dealing with the woes of dating, breakups, understanding her worth and more. Her voice is memorable and energetic on each track and pushes passionately as each song meshes into the next. Despite her Australian roots, her sound is a bit reminiscent of Kehlani back when she used to roll out mixtapes detailing her rocky past, Grace also does the same thing, she reaches into her memories and shares pieces of herself.

When speaking on the album she details, “As women, we’re told all your value is placed on how fuckable you are, but I refuse to accept that as reality,” she says. “What I realized as I got older is that nothing is more powerful than divine feminine energy and when women come together and support each other the possibilities are infinite.”

Ahead of the release of the project, the standouts we were immediately drawn towards upon listening to the EP were “Gone,” “Boys Ain’t Shit” and “Doin Too Much.” “Gone” addresses a breakup that went sour. Throughout this song, Grace airs out everything that led to her feeling that a breakup was the only solution to the toxic situation.

On “Boys Ain’t Shit” an upbeat bop, she details how someone she’s interested in might just be wasting her time. The track also touches on the double standard that exists in the social media age where women at times are subjected to dating apps and a lack of good communication.

The Defining Moments of SAYGRACE: Girlhood, Fuckboys and Situationships is a cohesive listen that sheds light on the facets that make up the rising singer. It’s somewhat of a manifesto and it poignantly explores her mindset as a young woman finding her rightful place in the music industry.
